Evan Smith

Director of Programming and Community Engagement, Co-Founder

After studying Government and Latin American Studies at Cornell University, Evan began teaching in the Bronx, NYC, working on his Masters in Education. He currently chairs the Social Studies Department at Grand Center Arts Academy where he teachers Critical Sociology: Voices from the Margins, 20th Century US History through the Arts, and US History: Reconstruction to the Present. In addition, Evan is fluent in Spanish, a product of many years of study and extensive travel throughout Latin America, including a stint at the University of Buenos Aires. Evan co-founded Global Ethos in order to rupture the barrier between schooling and education. As he likes to say, "The brick and mortar school is but one institution of learning." Indeed, the world and our intentional engagement in it provide the richest and most robust learning experiences for young people and adults alike.

Benjamin Dinwiddie

Director of Operations and Development, Co-Founder

Ben has taught Social Studies in both St. Louis and Hawai'i, and has traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and Latin America.  He attended the University of Missouri, where he studied at the Pierre Laclede Honors college and received a degree in both history and secondary education.  He spent a year studying law at the University of Colorado-Boulder, but quit Law School to pursue of his dream of teaching and learning through real-world engagement and travel, Ben co-founded Global Ethos in hopes of transforming the lives of young people. Ben currently teaches AP US History, AP World History, and AP US Government at Grand Center Arts Academy in St. Louis, MO. A talented musician, Ben brings an artistic presence to Global Ethos that has solidified cultural exchange and connection as an important tenet of our mission and vision.
